Munster Colts Fall Tackle Program

2026 Fall Tackle Football General Information
When, where, and how can I register?
You can register anytime online during the registration period of April 15, 2026 to June 15, 2026. You will need a copy of your participant’s birth certificate and report card in addition to completing all required Pop Warner forms. Paperwork MUST be uploaded at time of registration.
Who can participate?
Munster Pop Warner and the Northern Indiana region have age-based divisions (unlimited weight) ranging from 6U to 12U, which includes players “league age” 5 to 12. For the purpose of determining your child’s “league age” it is simply their age as of 7/15/26.
How much does it cost?
The registration fee is $350 for the season for players league age 7-12, for players league age 5-6, the fee is only $250. We encourage everyone to please help the organization by donating time and/or supporting the league wide fundraisers that we will have throughout the season. After June 15th, there are no refunds.
Are there any programs to reduce the registration fee?
Our annual mum fundraiser offers a registration rebate program to help families defray the cost of the season, specific details will be available during the time of the fundraising event.
What does my registration fee include?
The fee includes the necessary insurance, fees payable to Town of Munster, facility rental fees to the School Town of Munster, operating fees payable to regional Pop Warner authority, referee expenses, coach certifications/training, and equipment, etc. The list below details the individual equipment provided for each player:
Equipment Rented to Participant
Helmet(Return), Game Pants(Return), Practice Jersey(Return), Shoulder Pads(Return), Practice Pants(Return)
Season T-Shirt(Keep), Mouthpiece(Keep), Socks(Keep), Game Jersey (Keep)

What other equipment will I need to provide to participate?
Munster Pop Warner has gone to great lengths to ensure your participation is as simple and cost effective as possible. The only other required item you will need to provide is a pair of football cleats for your participant. An athletic supporter and protective compression underlayers are optional and would be your responsibility. EVERYTHING else has been provided by Munster Pop Warner.
When does the season start and how long does it last?
Teams have the ability to start practice as early as July 15th. Because of potential conflicts with baseball, we will encourage Head Coaches to calibrate their start time to align with the player’s ability to participate in the beginning of the season. Generally speaking, most teams will practice 5 days a week for the first two weeks of the season before reducing to 3 days a week. Exact practice time and days will be determined by the Head Coach of the team, but will practice 6 hours a week (4.5 hours for 6U only). The first game of the 8 game regular season will be August 23, 2026 and conclude October 11, 2026. Week 1 of single elimination playoffs will be October 18, 2026 and continue onwards weekly until elimination. Depending on your division and success, your season could last until early December.
Is youth football safe?
More so than any other youth sports organization, Munster Pop Warner volunteers are subject to strict requirements. After a thorough background check, volunteers are required to complete hours of football training and CPR certification. USA Football certifications give our volunteers the necessary tools to teach modern, proper, and safe techniques while carefully monitoring player health. Further, we strive to provide the safest available equipment to further provide protection for our young student athletes. We work hard to ensure a proper fit so that the equipment performs as expected. Game film from all age groups is available to review, please contact league officials for more information.
Can my child play other sports while playing tackle football?
The short answer to the question is no. Unlike other sports such as baseball, basketball, or soccer, failure to regularly attend practice and commit to the team will leave the experience hollow for both the participant trying to do both and the team they are letting down. Fall is football season and full focus is required.
Where does Munster Pop Warner practice and play games?
Practice will once again be held at Cobblestones Park for 2026. This park has ample space and striped partial fields will be made available to each team for a high-quality practice experience. Home games will be played at Munster High School. Away games will be played throughout the Northern Indiana region often competing against local communities such as Highland or Griffith but also traveling as far as Chesterton, Valparaiso, or South Bend.
Why does registration close June 15th if the season doesn’t start until much later?
Once registration closes, there is a tremendous amount of work to be done in preparing appropriate team rosters, ensuring the required amount of equipment is available and paperwork filed with the league. After this process, in early July, equipment fittings and distribution will take place. Breakout sessions for each coach to introduce themselves to their respective teams.

Fall 2026 Cheer

2026 Fall Cheer General Information

When, where, and how can I register?
You can register anytime online during the registration period of April 15, 2026 to June 1, 2026.

Who can participate?
There will be teams for ages 3-18. For the purpose of determining your child’s “league age,” it is simply their age as of 7/15/26.

How much does it cost?
The registration fee is $450 for the season for ages 6-18 and $350 for ages 3-5.
ALL teams ages 6-18 are travel teams. There will be an extra $100 charge due in August. The additional $100 fee covers the initial fees for Regionals and Nationals.
ALL travel teams will have an additional $100.00 travel fee due sometime in August.

There will be several fundraising opportunities for travel including:
Charity Mania (stipulations apply)
Shake-a-can
Yeti Raffle(s)
Spaghetti Dinner
50/50 raffles at home games (stipulations apply)
Football Squares (for Bears/Packers games)

There is no additional volunteer fee or a fundraising fee, as in years past. However, it will be the responsibility of cheer parents to sign up for gate shifts at home games. This was an issue in the 2025 Fall season. We request that each parent sign up for ONE shift at the gate for home games. As soon as the schedule comes out a sign up genius will be created to allow planning time for all cheer families. Please note: if no one signs up for these shifts, it falls to the coaches and the board. We kindly remind you that the amount of work that goes into planning and coaching these seasons as VOLUNTEERS is demanding. We really hope we won’t have an issue with the request of asking each family to give their time for one two hour shift on a game day. If we do have this issue, we will be raising fees again next season, in order to pay someone to sit at the gate.

There will be two organization fundraisers:
Mums in the fall - the first 5 sold are organizational profit. Any above and beyond that will be credit to your individual fundraising account.
Charity mania- the first 5 charity mania tickets sold are organization profit. Any sold above and beyond that will be credit to your individual fundraising account.
**Please note: If you do not participate in the organizational fundraisers, the equivalent of profit for the organizational fundraisers will come off the top of your individual fundraising account.

What does my registration fee include?
The fee includes:
The necessary/required insurance
Fees payable to Town of Munster
Facility rental fees to the School Town of Munster as well as Trinity
Operating fees payable to regional Pop Warner authority
Coach certifications/training

The list below details the individual equipment provided for every athlete, and distiguishes what is a rental, and what is to be kept.

When does the cheer season start and how long does it last?
The fall cheer season starts July 20, 2026 and runs through late October for ages 3-5, and through Early December traveling teams ages 6-18, and qualify for Nationals.

Conditioning
The season starts with conditioning practice for the first two weeks at Trinity in Hammond. Conditioning is MANDATORY.

Practices
Practice will continue to be held outdoors at Frank Hammond Elementary, through labor day.
After the first two conditioning weeks, practice will move to 2 weekday, 1 hour practices per week for ages 3-5 and 2 weekday, 2 hour practices per week for ages 5-18 until Labor Day.
Practice days will be determined once teams are established, after registration is complete.

After Labor Day, practices will move indoors to Wilbur Wright Middle School and will be 2 weekday practices, plus two or three Saturday practice for ages 6-18. Saturday practices for ages 3-5 will only occur the week prior to a competitions. Saturday practices will be held at Trinity in Hammond.

Sideline Cheer
Cheerleaders will do sideline cheer at HOME Sunday football games, and 1 away game.
  • The Shortened game day schedule is new at the league level this season. Munster Pop Warner Football and Cheer are implementing this because cheer has three competition dates, as well as a solid shot at qualifying to compete at the National level.
  • The first football game of the 8 game regular season is usually the last Sunday of August and the season generally concludes mid October.
Please note: If a football team makes it into the playoff brackets, we will be attending those games and extending our sideline season, so long at the games don’t conflict with our competition schedule, in order to provide all athletes with the “playoff experience” that comes along with cheering for football.
  • Home games will be played at Munster High School.
  • Please note that our schedule is usually released a week at a time, and late. We often find out where we are cheering the week prior to week one. We will cheer labor day weekend, if we are playing at Home.

Additional expenses:
Cheerleaders will be required to have an all white athletic shoe (no thick soles) to do sideline cheer. Links to affordable options will be provided at the parent meeting/uniform fitting, and prior years comp shoes can be used. Competition shoes are included in registration fees and are ONLY worn INDOORS until Nationals.
Theme items:
  • September is Childhood cancer awareness month, and we generally wear orange bows to support a kidney cancer survivor in the program. Cost is historically $5-$20 per athlete. This is mandatory as it becomes part of the uniform.
  • October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and we usually wear pink bows and socks for October. Cost is historically $10-$25 per athlete. This is mandatory as it becomes part of the uniform.
  • Competition jersey/shirt/items - we usually come up with a program wide competition jersey or shirt. These are worn during awards at all competitions. Historically, cost is $25-$35 per athlete. This is mandatory as it becomes part of the comp day uniform.
  • Snack/activity bags - there are usually snack/activity bags coordinated by each team Mom or coaching staff. A donation in the form of money or items for the bags is generally collected from each family to create the snack/activity bags.
  • Homecoming Gifts - we put together gift bags for the girls for the homecoming game - this is done by each individual team. Cost is historically $25-$50 per athlete. The homecoming gift is not mandatory, but we’ve always had 100% participation.
  • Additional practice wear - priced between $30.00 and $115.00
  • Jackets - two options - Bling/Comp and Sideline - $65.00-$130.00
  • Backpacks/bags - two options - $75.00 - $120.00

Can my child play other sports while cheering?
The short answer to the question is no. Unlike other sports, failure to regularly attend practice and commit hurts the team as a whole. If someone is missing from a stunt group that means that the whole stunt group can not practice fully. Fall is cheer season and full focus is required.

If practice starts July 20th, why does registration close June 1st and what happens in between?
Once registration closes, there is a tremendous amount of work to be done in preparing appropriate team rosters, ensuring the required amount of equipment is available and paperwork filed with the league. The first week in June there will be a parent meeting and uniform sizing. Uniforms need to be ordered by June 10th to ensure we have them for the first football game in August.
